Yesterday, we went to the Aotea Centre in Auckland. While we were there we watched the Auckland Philharmonia Orchestra perform for the Kiwi Kapers Concert.
When we arrived and took our seats inside the building, we saw a slideshow at the front of the theater. The slideshow showed a variety of questions relating to music. Whenever the slideshow gave the correct answer to the question that was shown, everyone in the audience would start shouting because they got the answer right.
As soon as the show started, we listened to the Orchestra play a couple pieces of music. One of my favourite pieces of music was called Hedwig’s Flight, not only because it was the Harry Potter theme, but it also had a very nostalgic feel to it, combined with the uplifting music.
One of my favourite instruments was the violin, because it is one of the main instruments in the orchestra. When a number of people gently play the violin, the sound is a bit muffled, but it still holds a beautiful tone.
There was also a major performance at the end of the show called The Firebird. It consisted of many people from different schools dancing to the music.
Some of the music at the end of the performance was so beautiful that I nearly cried tears of joy.
Overall, it was a very awesome experience at the Aotea Centre. I would love to go listen to the orchestra again, if it is going to be on next year.
