Our Olympic Highlights
Our Olympic highlights this week.
Willis wins bronze in 1500m final
August 21, 2016
Kiwi runner Nick Willis has won the bronze medal in the men’s 1500m final at the Rio Olympics.
Willis ran a time of 3:50:24 minutes which was 0.24 seconds behind the winner Matthew Centrowitz of the United States.
It is Willis’ second Olympic medal, after he won silver at the 2008 Beijing Games.
The 33-year-old ran in the middle of the pack for much of the race, was in seventh place with one lap to go and then in 6th place with 100m left.
He sprinted well down the straight to claim bronze 0.05 seconds ahead of fourth placed Ayanleh Souleiman from Djibouti.
New Zealand now has won 18 medals at Rio – four gold, nine silver and five bronze.
Ko wins Rio golf silver
August 21, 2016
Lydia Ko has won silver in the women’s golf in Rio.
The New Zealand Number 1 women’s golfer edged out China’s Shanshan Feng by one stroke.
The win makes her New Zealand’s youngest female medalist at an Olympics, a title which was briefly held by Eliza McCartney for her bronze medal win in the pole vault yesterday.
The 19-year-old world number one wasn’t able to close the gap on South Korea’s Inbee Park.
She dominated the entire tournament to win the first Olympic gold medal in women’s golf since 1900 with a five-stroke victory.

Win, win, win
We could win.
How would having an iPod touch(it looks and works like an iPhone...without the phone bit) help you in your classroom with teaching and learning?
Let me know how it would assist and facilitate
(HELP)
you to do your job better and you can be in the running to win one to help you in your classroom.
There is more than one to be won (that's a fun sentence to say out loud!) so don't be shy.
Email your good ideas to your teacher and we could win!
